Sounds like a movie title! I really liked this mirror when we first got it at an import warehouse several years ago. I loved the detail and the size for over our great room fireplace. I can’t remember if I liked the gold or not, but I lived with it for several years so I don’t think I hated it.
The problem {besides the gold} is that you can’t really see the detail, which is the nicest thing about this frame.
I didn’t want to paint the mirror black or white ~ I was kind of leaning toward brown. Recently I saw a mirror that Kammy at Small Home In The Country did on a mirror that also had some beautiful detail {which does look a little like mine}.
She had used Oil Rubbed Bronze and this made me more determined than ever to get myself to Home Depot and pick some up.
I also finally got some Rub N Buff {in Antique Gold at Michaels} and thought I would use that on the detailed areas to bring them out more. This is the mirror painted with the Oil Rubbed Bronze.
Much better; but again, the detailing doesn’t really stand out.
This is the mirror with the addition of the Rub N Buff. Being a first time user, I think I was a little heavy-handed {or heavy-fingered since you use your finger to apply it}. I love how the details stand out now!
I love my “new” mirror and I’ll be giving a full view reveal once I get it back up on the wall over the fireplace.
