Frugal Finds For Frugalicious Friday

Another Frugalicious Friday link up! A couple of weeks ago when I hit the dollar store {I shared those finds last Friday}, I had also been to Michael's. I picked up a few regular priced items {I thought they were still a good price}, but I also made my way to the back to check out the clearance stuff.

  • I got cones to paper and decorate ~$3.49 for a package of 4. I may get another package or two and decorate them with a Christmas theme, using some ribbon as a hanger and hang them on each dining chair.

  • The letters were $.79 each.

  • The keys have black and white designs and were $3.99 for the set of three. I could use these on any number of projects {honestly, I couldn't resist getting them}.

  • The pink and black things ~ I had no idea what they were when I bought them ~ that's always the sign of a good shopper, even if you don't know what something is, pretend you do. They are tab clips, good for marking pages in a magazine or book, but I may use them to just clip papers together. They were on clearance for $2.49.

The other little item is this anniversary tag. I thought it was a pretty little tag for $.28.

These rub ons were $1.49, and I liked the fonts and the words. These would be small enough to use on smaller craft projects.

I'm sure they thought I was a total weirdo because I found most of the clearance stuff just tossed in a box. I sat down on the floor and took stuff out so I could get to the stuff on the bottom ~ which is where I found the letters. Hey, sometimes you literally have to search for great deals!

I can't wait to see everybody's finds!

The Pixie Dust Decor Giveaway ends Friday at midnight! Make sure you enter for at least one chance to win this cute apron set.

Multiple Weekend Projects & Joining In On Blog Parties

I had some projects I wanted to start and complete on Saturday {being as I had the annual covering of the pool and the arguments with hubby that go along with that task scheduled for Sunday}.

This first project I did on the spur of the moment, after I found this little black frame that I had gotten with a set of various size frames.

I just took one of the scrap book papers I bought recently and used that for the background, printed out a "K" in a font I liked, painstakingly cut it out, and used double-sided tape to attach it.

I currently have it sitting on my vanity table next to my harlequin tumbler {that I got on clearance from HomeGoods and which now holds my make-up brushes and stuff. Don't be afraid to use something for a purpose other than what it was originally intended}.

This next project actually took a couple of weekends, but I finished it Saturday. I bought this wood plaque, a little spray paint in a cream color, sawtooth hangers and a pre-made vinyl quote from Michael's. I wound up not liking the paint color and I really wasn't crazy about the quote. I really just wanted one word "Dream" for the sign.

So, I took some yellow paint that we used in my daughter's room and some white paint, and mixed them together to get more of a buttery yellow color. I ordered the vinyl word "Dream" from Scribble It on Etsy, with two scrolls. I'm pleased with the way it turned out although I'm thinking it needs a little something ~ maybe a blue satin ribbon so that it looks like it's hanging from the ribbon. I'm still mulling that over.

This sign is hanging over a daybed in our small spare bedroom, which I have decorated in a French kind of style. I'll share pictures of this room one day as it's cute and I recently added something else to this room that I want to share.

The next project deals with those gift baskets we all have gotten over time. Whether it holds bath and beauty supplies or cheeses and chocolates. I usually keep the baskets ~ some of the flatter round ones are great for holding bread and rolls. I have a great big metal one that has endless possiblities. Then there was this one:

The picture above shows it upside down. It doesn't look any better right side up. It was gold. I felt that it had some potential because it is not too big and not too small.

That "stuff" around the top is like window screening, bunched up to look like I don't know what and wired on here and there. Here it is after I cut all the screening off.

I thought that I only had black and white spray paint. I felt black would be the better of the two but I found a can of Rustoleum Anondized Bronze {the cap looks brown}. So I decided to go that route instead. Here it is newly painted and holding some of the wooden acorns I picked up at Pier 1 {in front of the hydrangeas I cut today}.

I still think this needs a little something, too. Maybe a pretty napkin on the inside. I kind of wished it had some metal slats in that top area to weave ribbon in and out, but I may still try something with ribbon there. Here it is in another room {don't mind the phone}.

I think it looks much better than when it started out and I think it's going to be a handy piece to have around.

Some of these projects fall into various blog party categories that I come across every week, so I may wind up linking up to them and I will come back and add those links.
